LeBron James, following a horrendous display in Charlottesville, Virginia, shared his thoughts to his over 37 million Twitter followers.
The thing that is always commendable about LeBron James is that he shares his mind honestly, and today, after a frightful situation, he gave his thoughts. In two tweets, LeBron James shared his views on America, Charlottesville, Trump, and the future of America.
Here are James’ two tweets that made waves on Twitter yesterday.
According to the New York Daily News, three people died and 34 were injured following the rioting and protests that happened in Virginia. White supremacists were protesting because of the removal of a Robert E. Lee statue while counter-protesters also gathered close by. This led to a 20-year-old Ohioan ramming his car atrociously into a group of the counter-protesters.
James knows the state in which our country is in. He has set up a foundation in order to help today’s youth too. This is the type of leadership that we need more of in America, and James coming out and saying it, with as large of a platform as he has, is commendable at the very least.
There are a lot of heavy hearts following those incidents, but it can’t be summed up better than James put it, “Our youth deserves better!” On multiple occasions, James has voiced his opinion about the state of America and current situations.
If you remember, James, when he award some stage time at the ESPY’s following his ESPY win for Best Athlete and four other awards, joined friends Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Dwyane Wade, and closed his speech with a call to all athletes.
According to ESPN, James said this:
“Tonight we’re honoring Muhammad Ali, the GOAT,” he said. “But to do his legacy any justice, let’s use this moment as a call to action to all professional athletes to educate ourselves, explore these issues, speak up, use our influence and renounce all violence and, most importantly, go back to our communities, invest our time, our resources, help rebuild them, help strengthen them, help change them. We all have to do better.”
