Racism Reaches No Heights as a medical personnel calls an African-American new-born a ‘Mini Satan’, then shares image on Snapchat

The nurse’s friend is also seen trying to make the new-born dance on a rap

People in the medical profession are expected to be considerate, kind and affectionate. But this recent incident which shows a US nurse mishandling the new-born and calling him a ‘mini satan’ goes beyond our conception of racism. This nurse thought it is funny to be racist and it would be funnier to post her racist pictures on social media. She shamelessly called the infant a ‘mini satan’ just for his skin colour and for fact that he has an American-African lineage. Her pictures, expectedly, didn’t go well with the internet people.

Allyson Jeanette Thomson, who is a Hospital Corpsman in the US Navy, shared the pictures of the baby on her Snapchat. In one of the pictures, the nurse is seen showing ‘middle finger’ to the baby with the text ‘How I currently feel about these mini Satans’. In the second picture, her friend is trying to make the baby dance to rap music. The duo’s classmate Denisa Shellito reprimanded the women for their ugly and morally disgraceful actions. She took the Snapchat screenshots and posted them on Facebook.

Here’s what she posted:

“UPDATE: “Naval Hospital Jacksonville’s Commanding Officer sends: We are aware of a video / photos posted online. It’s outrageous, unacceptable, incredibly unprofessional, and cannot be tolerated. We have identified those involved– two junior enlisted corpsmen (not nurses). They have been removed from providing patient care and they will be handled by the legal system and military justice. We’ve notified the patient’s parents.”

I’m just sharing someone’s post in hopes that these childish girls get reprimanded and lose their jobs.

“A girl I went to high school with is a navy nurse and this is how her and her shitty friend treat the babies that have just been born. My blood is literally boiling and I want to snitch bc that is someone’s child. The first pic is her friend who is making the baby dance and she’s playing rap music in the background. I’m LIVID and I’m snitching bc she should get fired from her job but idk how to go about it. Pissed isn’t even the words.”

They work at the naval hospital in Jacksonville, FL. Call, email, do whatever it takes to get through to administration!!”

The post went viral on internet with majority of netizen condemning the action of the nurse. Meanwhile, she also received an update from the Naval Hospital Jacksonville’s Commanding Officer. Naval Hospital Jacksonville responded via Facebook post.

Naval Hospital Jacksonville’s Commanding Officer sends: We are aware of a video / photos posted online. It’s outrageous, unacceptable, incredibly unprofessional, and cannot be tolerated. We have identified those involved– two staff (not nurses as reported on some sites). They have been removed from providing patient care and they will be handled by the legal system and military justice. We’ve notified the patient’s parents.

We just couldn’t understand how people find it funny to make comments about people’s colour, race, body, etc. While what Johnson did was racist but it also raised a question on babies’ security at the hospital. One isn’t supposed to handle a new-born the way they were doing in the pictures.
