What’s The Real Reason Kanye and JAY-Z Are Feuding?

Former friends Kanye West and JAY-Z have one of the strangest feuds in the music industry. Considering the duo was once tight, having collaborated musically multiple times throughout their careers, it’s hard to imagine what the root of the whole ordeal is. Though back in November, Ye made headlines when he publicly railed against Jay’s wife Beyoncé — which Jay retaliated to with lyrics on his latest album 4:44 — there’s evidence that the broken friendship dates way back.

In the documentary Public Enemies: Jay-Z vs. Kanye, which aired in Britain on July 31, Chicago-based rapper GLC says Kanye cried when Jay stalled the release of his music early in his career, clammed up when Jay confronted him about leaking his debut single and was hurt when Jay refused to give him free tickets to his 2003 “farewell” concert. “That hit him really hard, man,” GLC said.

Besides giving insight the feud, GLC also revealed that Kanye’s struggles have been apparent to those around him. He added that he feels that the father-of-two has been “absorbed into a tunnel of darkness…. The guy that I knew back then, that’s not the same person.”

Kanye’s struggle with mental health has come out in many ways in the recent months. As In Touch Weekly previously revealed the rapper’s recent weight gain has been a major cause for concern for those around him.

A source close to the “Gold Digger” rapper said that he “has gained about 25 pounds over the last few months,” adding that the 5-foot-8 star, who has been laying low since his November breakdown, now weighs around 200 pounds. And though the family has tried to help the 40-year-old stop the binge eating the insider said that “there’s nothing anyone can tell him to make him stop — including Kim.”

And while we’re sure Kanye needs a friendship more than ever these days, it doesn’t look like Jay will be the one to call considering Ye has pulled his music from his former friend’s streaming service TIDAL. This decision may land the duo in court, since pulling his content may be considered a breach of contract. (Edited by L. Fouroux)
