Drake Broke The Record For The Most Wins In One Night At The 2017 Billboard Music Awards

Drake was the top artist last night at the Billboard Music Awards, and not just because he won some of the biggest awards. He beat the all-time record for the most grand slams in an award rendering evening, which was previously held by Adele. Adele received 12 awards in 2012 for her album 21.

However, last night Drake collected 13 awards at the 2017 BBMAs, which was enough wins to break the record for the most wins in a single evening at the Billboard Music Awards. Impressively, Drake was only nominated in 13 categories, so he won every single prize he was nominated for.

Drake has now joined a group of elite musicians that has grown to include four members, all of whom can claim to have double-digit wins at the Billboard Music Awards. The first artist to do so was Whitney Houston back in 1993 when the powerful vocalist collected both the Top Billboard 200 Album and the Top Hot 100 Song trophies for her album The Bodyguard and her smash single “I Will Always Love You,” respectively.
